Print-on-Demand Pricing: Calculate Your Real Margin

Estimate print-on-demand profit after production, shipping, platform fees, refunds and marketing.

Guide last updated 12 October 2026

A sale is not the same as profit. Calculate the costs that apply to your actual order and market before listing a product.

Use a complete cost formula

Estimated profit per order = selling price − all order-related costs.

Consider product base cost, shipping, marketplace and payment fees, discounts, refunds, replacement orders, advertising and other applicable business costs.

Do not assume every provider, country, product or sales channel has the same fees. Check current official terms for the exact product and market.

Test scenarios

Calculate conservative, expected and optimistic cases. Include discounts and shipping rather than relying on product base cost alone.

Validate before scaling

Order samples when appropriate, check print quality and delivery expectations, and test the customer journey. Avoid heavy advertising spend until there is evidence that the offer converts profitably.
