How to Build a Content Calendar in Trello

Organise content ideas, production, review and publishing with a simple Trello board.

Guide last updated 12 October 2026

A content calendar should make the next action and publication status clear. You do not need a complex system to start.

Create workflow lists

Try Ideas, Ready to Plan, In Progress, Review, Scheduled and Published. Adjust them to match your actual process.

Create one card per item

Include a working title, target channel, audience, owner, deadline, draft link and checklist. Keep the brief short enough that people will read it.

Use a repeatable checklist

Research, draft, fact-check, edit, prepare visuals, approve and publish. Change this list to match your editorial process.

Review weekly

Identify blocked work, overdue approvals and the next batch of ideas. Verify current plan limits and integration permissions before adopting paid features.
